My life from the bud up

Hi, I'm Laura. A seasoned (pun intended) culinary creative, marketing manager and content strategist specialising in good-food e-commerce brands that are looking to expand across borders.

Building a foundation

Lucky me. I was born into an eclectic household. Italian Nonno, German Grandma, Dutch-Indonesian Dad. Way to infuse a full spectrum of tastes and textures into a life! A Neapolitan bean stew here, a classic Soto soup there and then - a while later - I got to attend the renowned University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy following a Master's degree in Human Ecology and Sustainability. Think rolling hills full of Barolo grapes, a region loaded with elevated specialties and connecting to people, that also felt the need to explore the future of food. A deep-dive into future-building practices and environmental stewardship from the perspective of food roots and ethically operating producers.

What's good food?

Well, you tell me, because things are much more complicated than they seem. During my six years at a pioneering food startup, that said: 'Eat less meat' - while gathering shareholders to buy an entire cow that was only slaughtered when fully sold - I tried to navigate the scale of what it means to eat informed and well in an ever changing food landscape.

Celebrating the exponential growth of the concept and the success of helping people change the way they look at food and take better care of their health, plate and planet made me a bit more optimistic about the future of really good products. And thus I felt it was time to check out more brands coming from a similar, cheeky mindset myself.

As a creative consultant and strategist at the startup, I played a crucial role in driving growth and developed innovative strategies rooted in sustainability and a sense of the undercurrent of relevant trends. Having helped to roll out the concept in various countries, I've had the pleasure (and pain) of working across all disciplines. Meaning, I can coherently talk to developers, will help you write crazy good customer service templates and think of all the mail-drip campaigns to reach the people that matter to you in a way that'll stick. Customer segmentation? I know her.

Way back

With a background in event management from the beginnings of my career, I bring a strategic mindset, adaptability, and exceptional organisational skills to the table. I have also dipped my toes into the fashion, art photography and film industry as a producer, blending my talent for strict planning with creative instincts.

Also, I like gardening..

Or rather permaculture, recognising the importance of sustainable farming practices and their positive impact on the world around us. To me, holistic and respectful farming is the practice that will keep feeding us looking ahead.

..and cooking

Surprise, I have a knack for recipe development. Well-sourced ingredients and my firm belief in culinary freestyling mostly leaves empty plates. Food to me is not only essential nourishment but first and foremost something to be enjoyed thoroughly. Recognising the worth and journey of the produce in front of you.

I thrive on organising collaborative food events that bring together like-minded individuals and businesses. By fostering a sense of community and shared vision, these events create meaningful and interdisciplinary connections and spark collective efforts towards a more wholesome togetherness.

Onwards.

Today, as a consultant and strategist, I empower e-commerce businesses in the sustainable food sector to navigate complex landscapes on the other side of the fence.

Finding it difficult to gauge the cultural temperature of a different market?

By analysing data, conducting research and bringing in my own experience on local dynamics, I help clients uncover hidden opportunities and implement impactful initiatives that drive growth and establish their brands as thought(ful) leaders.

Let's connect and make conscious food choices less abstract and more approachable.
